        Warm reminder | 2025 annual air and maritime identification report, MSDS report update has begun!

        Author:中認聯科 time:2024-11-05 Ctr:2160

        Recently, IATA (International Air Transport Association) released the 66th edition of DGR (Dangerous Goods Rules), which will take effect on January 1, 2025. In order to ensure that the business of related enterprises will not be affected, our company has begun to accept the air transport, sea transport and MSDS renewal and replacement services in 2025, and it is expected that the first batch of certificates will be issued in early December 2024!

        In order to avoid transportation delays or additional costs, ZRLK recommends that customers in need arrange replacement as soon as possible. If you have battery products and need to provide air transportation, sea transportation and MSDS renewal and replacement services, please make the following preparations before replacing them:

        1. Sort out the battery models that need to be replaced in advance to ensure that there are no omissions;

        2. Prepare the original report of the replacement model in advance. If the enterprise has other information that needs to be changed, please inform our business personnel in advance and provide the necessary information.

        About UN38.3

        UN38.3 refers to Section 38.3 of Part 3 of the Manual of Experiments and Standards specially formulated for the transport of dangerous goods in the United Nations. The safe transportation of lithium batteries must have a test report that meets the requirements of UN38.3, and a cargo transportation condition appraisal report that proves that it meets the new version of DGR and IMDG rules. Passing the UN38.3 test is the prerequisite for the safe transportation of lithium batteries. If necessary, the packages for lithium batteries transported alone or with equipment need to pass the 1.2m drop test and 3m stacking test (updated this year), and the packages can only be transported if they meet the requirements of laws and regulations.

        In order to ensure the safety of air transportation of batteries and avoid unsafe incidents, during the collection and transportation of each type of batteries at airports, it is necessary to prove that the batteries meet the requirements of Section 38.3 of Part 3 of the Manual of Experiments and Standards (namely UN38.3), and the batteries cannot be collected and transported without the UN38.3 conformity report.

        UN38.3 certified product range

        1. Various power secondary batteries (such as batteries for electric tools);

        2. Various mobile phone batteries (such as lithium-ion batteries and lithium polymer batteries);

        3. Various small secondary batteries (such as laptop batteries, digital camera batteries, camera batteries, various cylindrical batteries, wireless communication batteries, portable DVD batteries, CD and MP3 player batteries, etc.);

        4. Various primary batteries (such as lithium-manganese batteries);

        5. Anyone who carries or uses the above battery products needs to apply for an air and sea transport certificate based on UN38.3.

        UN38.3 materials to be prepared for certification application

        1. Fill in the application form (fill in the battery, customer's company name, address, telephone and email information)

        2. Battery specification

        3. Test the sample (the model, voltage, capacity and wattage must be on the nameplate of the sample, and it must be consistent with the battery when it is shipped and transported).

        If it is necessary to issue a cargo transportation condition identification report (air/sea transportation), the following information shall also be provided:

        (1) Power of Attorney, transport statement and other relevant information

        (2) Packaging pictures (outer packaging pictures, outer packaging opened pictures, inner packaging pictures)

        UN38.3 number of samples for certification application

        Single cell battery: 18pcs+30pcs

        Multicell battery: 16pcs+30pcs

        Single cell: 40pcs

        Certificate of air and sea transportation

        The air maritime certificate is a necessary document for lithium batteries or goods containing lithium batteries to be shipped by air or sea. Its purpose is to ensure the transportation safety of batteries or products with batteries. The air maritime certificate is updated annually according to the transportation rules updated every year. Its important feature is "annual validity".

        The annual validity means that your certificate issued in 2024 can only be used until December 31, 2024 (that is, whether you apply before December 31, whether you are in January, May, September or November, you need to reapply for the "Certificate of Air Shipping" after December 31). In other words, from January 1, 2025, the latest version of the air shipping certificate must be used for shipment.

        Information is required to apply for an air maritime certificate.

        UN38.3 test report +UN38.3 test summary +MSDS+1.2M drop test report. 3m stacking test report is required for PI965 IB /968 IB projects (PI966-II, PI967-I/II, PI969-II and PI970-I/II- are recommended, but not mandatory).

        Warm tips

        Preparations for the update of the 2025 air shipping appraisal certificate and MSDS report have been started. In order to avoid the peak period, please make preparations for the annual update of the 2025 air shipping appraisal certificate in advance, so as not to affect the normal shipment! Our company has many years of test and appraisal experience in the field of lithium battery transportation, and has the full test capability of the new regulations of IATA DGR 66 (2025). If you want to know more about the requirements for updating the air and sea transport certificate and MSDS report, or if you need to update the air and sea transport certificate and MSDS report, please feel free to contact us, and our engineers will serve you as soon as possible!
